I love Independence Day! Today was no exception. We didn't go to any parades or parties, but it was a pleasant day nevertheless. It was overcast most of the day, so it was cooler than usual, which was nice. We had some rain in the evening, which was really nice. And as usual, it's all about the food!
| There was a 24-hour BBQ Pitmasters Marathon on TV. We had the TV on a good portion of the day. Sometimes we sat and watched it, and sometimes we just had it on in the backgroun while we were doing other things. |
| For lunch, we had mapled sweet potatoes. I love mapled sweet potatoes! |
| Susan didn't want to get her picture taken. She also is the only party pooper who didn't wear her flag shirt. She's getting ready to zest lemons for lemon ice cream. |
| The Pitmasters are checking the temperature on the ribs. The ribs are braising in the Dutch oven. When they're about done, they'll slap them on the grill with BBQ sauce. |
| We played ultra competative Sorry. It got downright nasty! At first, Susan didn't want to send anyone home, because it would hurt their feelings. By the time we were done, she was crushing her opponents with the best of 'em! |
| The ribs are done braising. |
| Now they're ready for the grill. |
| We had Stand and Phyllis over for the feast... |
| ...and it was, indeed, a Fourth of July feast! |
| It was drizzly and windy, but we had our driveway fireworks show, and it was fun! |
| Independence Day isn't complete without the homemade lemon ice cream! |
Thanks for taking pictures of Brian for me! Looks like you guys had a great time!
