What Happens in Vegas Winds Up in my Blog!

The day after David and his family went back to Farmington, we loaded up the pick-up truck with furniture for Susan, and took of to Las Vegas to help her get moved in to her new house with her new roommates.  I didn't get pictures of her new place, so I will steal them from her blog later.

We didn't leave Gallup until Tuesday afternoon.  The dad had a County Commission meeting in the morning, and then we had to load the pick-up.  We took Susan's desk, her table and chairs and the bed that we got from Brian's and Chelsea's friends in Farmington.  It was a full load.  The dad got us hotel reservations in Williams, AZ for that night.  What a fun place Williams is!  We stayed downtown, and it's a touristy Old West Town.  It's the town that is at the turn-off from I-40 to the Grand Canyon.  They had some pretty cool geocaches there.

We found several geocaches just within walking distance from our hotel.

As you can tell, the dad finds most of the chaches first.

We saw an Old West Shoot-out right in the middle of the street by our hotel.

We took this picture for David.  The forest ranger at the trail groundbreaking gave him a bag that had Smokey Bear bookmarks and stickers in it.  He had fun with those during the ceremony.

We got to Las Vegas and got Susan all moved over to her new place.  For dinner, we made sandwiches and ate them on her new table.  After that, we went to our hotel, and Susan stayed and worked on putting her room together.  (We won't mention why we had to go to Walmart to do some exchanging.)  The next morning, the dad and I had to sit through a timeshare presentation in order to get our rooms at a screaming-good rate.

We walked over to the Hard Rock Hotel from our hotel so we could eat at Mr. Lucky's.  On Food TV, we saw a clip about Mr. Lucky's Gambler's Special.  It's steak, shrimp, potatoes, and broccoli for only 7.77 if you buy a (soft) drink and someone has a player card.  We wanted to go there last time we went to Vegas, but we never did get to do it.  This time, we made sure to fit it in to the week!

It really was a good meal, and the adventure was fun!

Notice the Las Vegas Knights emblem on the Lion?  We watched part of the last game for the Stanley Cup while we were eating.  Who would have thought that Susan would turn into a Knights Hockey fan?

Susan took us to a comedy show at the Brad Garrett Comedy Club.  The first two comics were really funny.  We left just a couple of minutes into the featured comic's routine.  He was filthy, and not funny, so we snuck out.

The next morning, we got up and drove the 2 1/2 hours to the Cedar City Temple.  Susan went to the Open House, but the dad and I had never been there.  We did several family sealings.

After we were done at the temple, we went to a little cafe that had a Chicken-fried Steak Special on Fridays.  We all got the Special.  It was delicious!

We found a very cool geocache in Cedar City!  It even had one of those pinchy thingies that you can pick things up with to get the cache out of the deep hole!

We picked up a couple more geocaches!

Amy sent this picture while we were driving back from Cedar City.  Baby boy is growing!

That night, we went to a 51s Ball Game.  They have the coolest bat boy ever!

We went to a 3d movie at M&M World!  (Did you know you can't buy just a regular package of M&Ms there?)

The next morning, we got up and decided to talke a morning walk.  We wound up in the MGM Grand, and I went on a Carpool Karaoke with James Cordon!

And then....   we went to IKEA!  I had never been to IKEA before.

I love this place!

We even ate lunch there!  Look at these cool rolley tray holders!  I love this place!

We ate Swedish meatballs!

My dad's mother was Swedish.  This place made me very proud of my Swedish heritage!

I bought these cool cups, plates  bowls and plastic ware for all my grandbabies!  I love that place!
(They look familiar.  Does Micah already have some?)

After our trip to IKEA, Susan took us to her favorite casino to see "Oceans 8."  It was a fun movie.

We had a wonderful trip!  It's great being able to see Susan in her grown-up life!  We sure do love that Baby Girl of ours!

School's Out for the Summer!

My last contract day was a Wednesday.  The principal let us go early if we were finished with all of or check-out procedures.  I left school, and was on the way to Farmington a half-hour later.  I needed a grandboys fix.  (Have I ever mentioned that I love being a grandma, and I love, love, love my grandboys?)

Peter is a super-chill little guy!  He loves to smile and laugh.  

David and I went on a walk to buy a tomato plant.  There are three or four blocks of a rose garden path along the way.

I think we stopped to sniff each and every bloom!

Chelsea hid her first geocache.  It is a fun one!  David was making sure that his grandma could find it!

It's a mystery cache.  We solved the coordinate mystery in the Children's Museum, and then found the cache in the park close by.

After the museum, we met Brian at Wendy's for lunch.  (It was 50 cent Frosty time again!)

After I got to Farmington, I found out that Brian had to do some court stuff in Gallup the following Monday.  Since they were coming this way anyway, I asked if I could bring David home with me for a few days.  His parents said it was okay, so I thew him in the car and brought him home for a few days!

Getting ready for bed.  Chelsea packed his Teddy Bear, Po, that he sleeps with.  He said "Po is for mine house.  Mickey is for Grandma's house."

He slept with Mickey every night.  He went to bed easy for us, and slept well!  Whew!

Just about the first thing David did was grab the crayons and paper, made a picture, and put it on the refrigerator!

We went up to McGaffey for the groundbreaking of the Milk Ranch Trailhead.  We went on a hike before the event began.  David hiked most of the way all by himself.

The dad was the main speaker and the emcee of the event.  It was hot, dry event, and David was as good as gold!

After 20 years, we finally got a new vacuum cleaner!

David is his daddy's son.  He loved playing games!

On Sunday, the rest of David's family came to Gallup.  Petey Pie is big enough for the high chair, now!
