Our First Trip to American Fork!

We went up to Utah to take some furniture from our storage unit to Steve, Angela and Micah.  We stayed with them in wonderful new home.  We picked up Susan for her summer break, and we attended a Jesse N. Smith reunion all in four days!  Some of these pictures I took--some are taken from Susan's and Angela's blogs.

The dad and I loaded up a U-Haul trailer on Thursday morning, and set out for American Fork around 11:00 or so.  We drove all the way there, got there well after dark, took a tour of the house, unloaded furniture, and went to bed in the Decker Bed and Breakfast!  We got to sleep on their new hide-a-bed in their play room downstairs.  Lovely accomodations!

On Friday morning, the dad and I turned in the U-Haul.  While we were out, we picked up a sneaky cache.  It had TWO travel bugs in it (but we only took one).

While Steve was at work, the rest of us went to Salt Lake to pick up Susan.  She took the Express Shuttle down from Rexburg.  We went to Temple Square.  Grandad told Micah all about the Salt Lake Temple.

This is Micah touching the temple!

Outside the tabernacle...

...and inside the Tabernacle.

We took Micah to see the Christus statue.

Waiting at the Express stop for Susan!

Here she is!  Here is my baby girl!  I missed her!

We found it necessary to look for at least one cache in SLC.  We found one!  (Love that light post trick!)

We went to Taco Bell for lunch?

Is that Angela trying the Fire Sauce?

Micah loves his Auntie Susan!

Steve made tasty and delicious pizza for dinner!

We went to DI.  Steve found the geocache first!

Susan stayed with Micah while the rest of us did a session at the Timpanogos Temple!

The temple is only about a mile from their house!

There just so happened to be a Jesse N. Smith descendants reunion at the Scera Park in Orem the weekend we were there.  Of course we would want to attend at least part of that!  (Susan loves her Micah!)

Look who we ran into!  Cousin Ellen DeGraw, and her husband, Gary!  We spent the day with them.  Just that alone would make it worth going!

There was a long program at the Scera Shell.  The sun was beating down, and it was HOT!  Some of us moved our chairs into the shade.  Susan took a little snoozle in the shade.

This is James Arrington doing his Brigham Young show.

Here we are in our Jesse N. Smith Reunion shirts!

Another shot with Gary and Ellen.

This is the big family group shot.
Micah and Angela found a quiet place in the shade.  Micah was hot and tired.  They didn't stand in the sun for the big picture, so just imagine them in it!

A Tug-of-War between descendants from two different wives.  We are descended from Emma Seraphine Smith.  We battled against Jeanette's descendants.  We won by a landslide.  Steve gave the battlecry, "We were here first!"

Of course if it's a pioneer-ish event, there are handcarts.

I pulled the handcart by myself.  "I don't need no stinkin' help!"

I needed "stinkin' help.

Back home for some time to rest after all that time in the hot, hot sun!

This baby sure loves his mama!

Grandma and grandad are crazy about him!

For dinner that night, we took a picnic to a park with a lake not terribly far from home.

We ate tasty and delicious fish tacos!

Me and my boy!

Micah wasn't sure how he felt about the whole wading bit.

For one cache, we had to go bushwhacking.  Steve kept Baby Simba from getting all scratched up!

Of course, if there is a geocache nearby, we will look for it!

On Sunday, we left for home early enough that we could go to Sacrament Meeting in Moab.  We got to town early, so we took Susan to that cute park that had the musical instruments!

We also found a geocahe...
...or two!
It was a loaded few days.  It was also a good few days!  We always love spending time with our family!
