The Decker Bunch: December 2019

Well, we made it through the year celebrating a National Day every day this whole year. We actually did it! There was one day when we took the picture the day after the celebration, because we forgot to snap a picture when we celebrated. There were a few days when we had to get up and out of bed to celebrate something, because we had forgotten, but we did it! Hooray for the whole family for helping us out and humoring us this year!

We started out December by celebrating National Pie Day on Dec. 1. We ate pie that was left over from Thanksgiving. We put it out in the garage on Thanksgiving night to keep it cold, and we forgot about it until after everybody had gone home. How fortuitous, that we already had pie ready to eat on National Pie Day (as opposed to National Pi Day).

Dec. 2 is Cyber Monday. I bought Play Doh online from Amazon.

The dad did some cyber Christmas shopping as well!

Dec. 3 is the National Day of Giving. We made an extra donation to Humanitarian Aid.

We also set up a snack station for all the mail and delivery people that work extra long hours this time of the year!

Dec. 4 is National Cookie Day.

The dad also made these yard dice for us for Christmas. I didn't know about them. They were a Christmas surprise, so I didn't take this picture until Christmas morning.

December 5 is National Bathtub Party Day. No pictures. Don't even try to imagine it. It could scar you for life.

We celebrated National Microwave Oven Day on December 6 by cleaning the microwave!

It was also National Faux Fur Friday!

We celebrated National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day on Dec. 7 by putting on "Pearl Harbor."

We also looked at photos of the day online.

We made mug brownies (with Thrive Brownie Mix) to celebrate National Brownie Day on Dec. 8.

We also celebrated Pretend to be a Time Traveler Day.

We got out a bunch of old calendars and traveled back in time with The Doctor.

Dec. 9 is National Pastry Day. We went and got this fruit pie from the goodies we left out for the delivery folks. We took the picture, and then put the pie back. A delivery person took the pie during the day. He must have been celebrating National Pastry Day, too!

December 10 is Dewey Decimal System Day. Our school librarian and I celebrated this together.

December 11 is National Noodle Ring Day!

We've gotten a lot of distance out of pool noodles this year!

Dec. 12 is National Poinsetta Day!

Steve and Angela went to Steve's work party at a fancy venue, and took pictures of the gingerbread houses there to help celebrate National Gingerbread House Day!

Dec. 13 is National Salesperson Day. This is Mike. He is our Meat And Fish Fella. He has served us faithfully for at least 15 years. We're glad he happened to come by to help us celebrate!

The dad is drilling holes in the tops of the puzzle wreath ornaments for my class to celebrate...

National Wreaths Across America Day on Dec. 14!

The dad is reading the Bill of Rights to celebrate Bill of Rights Day on Dec. 15.

We had Thin Mint to celebrate National Chocolate-civered Anything Day on Dec. 16.

I put Maple Syrup on my oatmeal to celebrate National Maple Syrup Day on Dec. 17

Here we are answering our phones like Buddy The Elf to celebrate National Answer the Telephone Like Buddy The Elf Day!

December 19 is National Hard Candy Day!

Dec. 20 is National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day!

I had a hard time deciding which one to wear!

December 21 is National Flashlight Day!

It is also National Yule Day. Here I am by our Yule Log!

December 22 is National Date Nut Bread Day. I made regular rolls and added dates and nuts. I'm not sure if I'll do that again.

On December 23, Hanukkah begins! We made latkes to celebrate. They were delicious!

We also took a moment to celebrate Festivus that day!

December 24 is National Eggnog Day!

It is also Christmas Eve! We are drinking cocoa after getting back from looking at Christmas lights!

Dec. 24! Merry Christmas!

Dec. 26 is National Whiner's Day!

This is David's commentary on the meal.

Dec. 26 is also National Candy Cane Day!

Dec. 27 is National Fruitcake Day! We made the fruitcake during Thanksgiving Break time. We ate one then, and froze the other to eat today!

Peter liked it so much that he stored his cheeks full of fruitcake for almost an hour!

Angela even noticed it was National Fruit Cake Day!

Chelsea's Grandma Croft passed away. In her memory, we tried to make peppermint patties like she did. Clearly they weren't as good as hers, but they were still pretty doggone good! Making the memory was priceless! We ate them on Dec. 28 for National Chocolate Candy Day!

How else would this family celebrate National Card Playing Day on Dec. 28!?!
