Our House is Looking Good!

We finally got the house carpeted!  We've been planning on it for several years.  We just didn't want to go through the pain and torture of moving EVERYTHING out of the rooms to get the job done.  We decided to celebrate getting my new car paid off by getting new carpet!  We originally planned to go through Home Depot to buy it and have it installed.  (That turned out to be a total pain in the neck, and it didn't happen.)

While we were waiting for Home Depot to finally set up the appointment to get the carpet installed, I called Keith Foutz and asked him to fix a couple of big cracks in our bedroom before the carpet went down.  He said he would, and in the meantime we planned on painting the Green Room.  After we got everything out of the Green Room, we saw that it needed more work than we could do, so we hired Keith to re-mud, texture and paint for us.  He also put a new frame around the doorway, and put in new baseboards.

While that was going on, we wound up cancelling everything with Home Depot because it was turning into a whole huge project we didn't waant to do.  Keith got us together with a different carpet company, and the whole project was done in a week.

During this time, Brian had meetings in Ruidoso, so long before we even started the project, we planned for Chelsea and the boys to come over while he was gone.  We just never dreamed all this would come down the same week.  We loved having them here, but I bet they were really glad to get back home after all the mess we had around!  I'm ready for them to come back to have the relaxing week we planned on in the first place.  (But I'm also glad they were here for the rest of the adventure!)

I was happy that KFC still had its $2.99 Chicken Fried Steak special on Tuesdays! 

Cooking was pretty much out of the question!

While the workers were laying the carpet, we needed to be away from the house and out of their way.  It was supposed to be all finished in one day.  We could handle one day!  Here we are at the library!

We went to Splash Time at the pool!  (We couldn't take pictures in the pool area, so we snuck a couple in the dressing room!

We spent a lot of time in the Nursery at the church.  I think this was probably David's favorite part!  But we got the news that it was going to take another whole day before the carpet was done, so the next day, we kind of had a repeat.

We met Grandad at McDonald's for lunch again.

This time, we stayed and played in the play area for quite awhile.  (We inspected it first to see if it was clean!)

Along about nap time, we went to a movie... Sherlock Gnomes.  I wouldn't have ever chosen this as one to see in the theater, but it was the perfect place for two little boys (and two grown women) to get in a bit of a nap on our second day away from home!

David slept on the floor in our room.  He slept with Mickey in his arms the whole night!

Look, it's done!

Now that everything is done and put back into place, we love it!  It's beautiful!

Our Trip to Phoenix! (And a little before that!)

On Wednesdays a group of teachers from Red Rock go hiking after school.  This was their second week.  I went this time.  It was fun!  We hiked the Churchrock Trail!

We did the old Little Red Hen thing this week.  The dad came to school on Friday and helped the kids make bread (well, fry bread) from the flour they ground the day before!  They love it when he pops in!

On Friday night we drove to Phoenix for Amy's Baby Shower.  We found a geocache in the hotel parking lot!

Amy got lots of wonderful gifts.  I enjoyed the shower!  I hope she did, too!

 After the shower, the dad and I drove out to Sun City West to see Jo and Al.  They have clearly aged.  I forgot to take their picture while I was there.  I wish I hadn't.

Afterwards, since Cody's mom and sister were still there, we drove over to Mesa and spent the rest of the evening with Papa.  We spent the night there, went to church bright and early, then headed for home!

We did a little geocaching when we needed to stretch our legs a bit!

It was a good weekend.  Now it's back to reality!

Susan's Spring Break, and April General Conference!

Susan's Spring Break was the week after mine.  Even though we weren't off at the same time, I'm glad she was able to come home for a bit.  She went to Farmington to spend time with Brian, Chelsea, and her nephews.  Then she came back home for Friday with the dad and General Conerence weekend!  I missed my baby girl!

On Saturday while I was at work, the dad and Susan drove out the the State Line for an adventure!

They hiked around awhile, and just plain had a good time.  They also had a picnic, but I can't find what I did with that picture.  If Susan resends it to me, I'll put it in here.

I was week.  I really and truly planned on just looking when I went into that feed store.

David played with the Waffle Village during the first session of Conference, which, by the way, was absolutely amazing.

Every time David found an egg, he squealed, "OOOoooo!"

Don't let that innocent face fool you.  Every time someone tried to help Peter get an egg, the swooper swooped in!  He also took all the eggs out of Petey Pie's basket and put them in his own overflowing basket!  That kid!

I love the melon Hi-Chews!  The only way I have been able to find them has been in the Tropical Mix.  I emailed the Hi-Chews company and asked them how to buy just Melon Hi-Chews, because they are my favorite.  I got an email back saying that sadly they and the banana are being discontinued, and that kiwi and pineapple would be taking their place.  The email said that if I would send my address, they would send me a few melons that they still had in their office, and they would send me a sample of the kiwi and the pineapple.  Well, only a few days later, this is what I got in the mail!  I also got coupons, stickers and a Hi-Chews pen.  You can't really see how much there is in the box, but there is a lot.  On top of all the Easter candy we downed, we also downed Hi-Chews like crazy!  I still have a bunch left!  Life is good!

Cleaning bolo ties during Conference!

During the Priesthood Session, we always have a girls night.  This time, the girl's night spilled over to Sunday morning.  Chelsea did our nails!  I feel fancy!

We have Jamberry wraps on our toes.  My feet don't look like old lady feet yet, but...

...I didn't realize how old my hands looked until I saw this picture.  Whoa.  We have gel enamel on our fingernails.  Mine is called "Bachelorette!"

Peter had his first solids while he was here--oatmeal!  He seemed to really like it once he got the hang of the whole spoon thing.  I got a Snapchat from Chelsea saying that David tasted his oatmeal.  He said he likes Big Boy Oatmeal better!"

It was a great General Conference, a wonderful Easter, and a wonderful time being together.  Good news for us... Brian had to work in Gallup on Monday, and Susan didn't have school on Monday, so no one had to pack up and go home on Sunday!  It was a very nice day!
