Some Happenings in May

May was a bit of a blur.  The ending of school always makes it a blur for me.  It doesn't help that I waited so long to blog about this period of time.  I'm glad I took a few pictures to remind me of what we did!  Because we are who we are, most of it seems to involve food.  Here we go!

We finally found a killer sale on apricots.  So of course, we made our current favorite jam--Apricot Habanero!

We're getting this garage cooking thing down!

We made the most delicious jam, and knocked off another cookbook all in one swoop!

Our little pear tree has baby pears for the first time!

.
The dad is getting his potato garden planted!

His potatoes always seem to be his pet project.

Not just seven layer dip--EIGHT layer dip.  It was really, really good!

Poached Salmon with lemon!

The last week of school, we had the annual picnic and hot dog cookout in our backyard.  The kids were not disappointed!  They had a great day!

The dad got the kids all lined up throwing frisbees into the frisbee goal!
Knocked off another delicious shrimp recipe!
We went back and found a cache we couldn't find last time we looked.  The "about" said the cache was magnetic, but folks posted that it wasn't either magnetic, so we were more easily able to find it this time!

We went back to another cache, and it wasn't there this time.  Boo.

Cooking stir-fry in the garage on a super-windy day.

Our poppies are prettier than they have ever been before.  There are several in bloom at once, and the wind didn't beat the petals off the second they opened!

I love flowers in the spring!

The dad planted irises on the burm behind our back fence.  They are lovely!

Red nose day!

These just plain make me happy!

  1. Layer dip is great, and those poppies are so pretty. I want to put some in our yard.
