Our Weekend Jaunt to Mesa

We went down to Mesa this weekend to see Dad and Carlene.  It's been awhile since we've been down.  In fact, our last trip down was the first week in November for the Family Reunion, and then, there were so many people there that we didn't really get to spend much time with Dad and Carlene.

One of Carlene's kids gave her and Papa tickets to see Peter Pan at Grady Gammage for Christmas.  They called us and told us they had tickets, and asked if we'd like to get tickets and go, too.  There were only two spots in the whole place that had three tickets together. but we got tickets (about as high up as you can go), and went.

Up until we left, it was iffy as to whether we would be able to go or not.  Friday we had a snow day, and we were worried about the roads.  When it looked like we'd be okay on the roads, the furnace wimped out on us.  We were afraid if we left with a bad switch in the furnace, that we'd come home to frozen pipes.

The plummer was able to cram us into his schedule, and he got the furnace temporary rigged so that it would work fine while we were gone.  He'll come back tomorrow at noon and finish up the job.

So, Cathy Rigby played the role of Peter Pan.  (Women always play that role.)  She was an Olympic Gold Metalist when I was a little girl.  Anyway, she's 60 now, and you can still tell she was an Olympic gymnast.  She's still incredibly agile.

After the play was over, when we were heading out the door, Cathy Rigby passed RIGHT IN FRONT OF US on her way to sign posters for folks. Her elbow brushed Susan. As I was about to reach out and touch her costume, her little Peter Pan foot stepped on mine! (Okay, it brushed mine, but that's fine with me!)

Of course, we picked a bunch of Citrus Fruit while we were there.

We picked these in Papa's backyard!

Of course, we played games.  This time we played Farkle.  Papa plays Farkle the same way he plays Rook--He's out to take the gamble to win even if it takes him down in the end!  Actually, this time he won.
Here we are outside the theater.  Papa took the picture.  He did NOT want to wait for someone to come along to take the picture for us so we could all be in it.

This is Cathy Rigby getting ready to sign autographs.  She's probably only about 4'5" or so tall.
