Apple Week!

Last week was apple week at school.  Johnny Appleseed's birthday was September 26.  Good news for our class.  Johnny just happened to be in the area that day, and he dropped in for  a quick visit on his way to plant more trees!

Johnny brought red, green and yellow apples.  We tasted each kind and then made a class graph of the kinds we liked best.  I thought it was funny.  Usually when we do this, by far most of the kids pick green, a handful pick red, and maybe one rebel will pick yellow.  This year, one of the kids asked Johnny what kind he liked best while he was visiting with the kids.  He mentioned that right now, he thinks he likes yellow the best.  Well, later on when we were tasting and graphing the apples, nearly every kid picked yellow.  Talk about the power of celebrity!!!

Johnny also read a quick story, as he had to get on to Grants, then Albuquerque for meetings.
