End of the 2017-18 School Year and Memorial Day Weekend!

This has been one of the best school years I've had in a long time.  I had a really easy bunch of kids to teach!  That doesn't mean they were all brain surgeons, by any means, but I didn't have any huge behavior problems.  Next year I will not have that luxury.

We had Field Day on the last day of school.  That was a good day for it!

We have three great-nephews graduating this year!  They are all Rhonda's grandsons!

Right after I got out of school, we headed over to Albuquerque for our Temple Weekend!  We found three geocaches on a walk from our hotel.

This one we had looked for before, but it was too dark to find it.  By the time we got to this one this time, it was almost too dark to find it as well, but as we were about to leave, I spotted it under a rock!

My mom asked me to cross-stitch this for her for a Relief Society program clear back when I was pregnant with Brian.  She had it matted and framed.  I've never really liked the matting for our house.  After we got the green room painted, it really looked bad, so we had it rematted.  I think it looks good, now.

On Memorial Day morning, we went to the Memorial Day 5K race that benefits the Manuelito Chidren's home.  We usually go when we're home on Memorial Day.

Of course, we walked.  We had a pleasant hike on hiking trails over behind the Sports Complex.

When they were announcing the winners in the different categories, we burst out laughing when the dad came in third for the Old Geezer division.  We didn't run a single step!

We had the McMullins over for dinner one last time tonight.  I miss Heather, and they haven't even left quite yet.  We've been partners in crime for over 18 years now.  But I think it will be a good thing for their family.  I really do.

A Blog When There's Not Much to Blog About!

Susan informed me that she keeps checking to see if I've posted anything new on the blog, and that it is time for me to do a new post.  The trouble is, there just hasn't been all that much to blog about lately.  So here is a glimpse at our ever-so-ordinary lives as of late.  (I need to get a grandson fix.  This summer, we plan on going to see all of our grandboys even if they come here, too!)

After our Temple shift was over, we went to eat at Der Weinerschnitzel!  I think that's the only time either one of us has ever eaten there!

The dad changed the carpet out of the Washoos game and put in a piece of carpet from the Green Room for old time's sake!

We want to get the Bones game playable.  The dad is carving another bone.  He has since finished and painted it.  It looks great! Now we need to try it out!

A bunch of us from school go hiking after school on Wednesdays.  Here we are at the top of the Hogback Trail!

The dad dug up all of the irises in the front yard and planted them on the burm behind the fence in the backyard.  Apparently he missed a few.  They are gorgeous this year!

"My Pictures."  Brian and Chelsea have a friend that was giving away a queen-sized bed.  Susan needed a bed.  We snatched up the offer!  The dad drove over to Farmington to get it.  It is on the floor in the Green Room waiting for us to take it to Susan.  This is a quilt I started last summer on our trip to Taos.  I finished quilting it a couple of months ago.  I was just seeing if it would fit the bed.  It's a little small, but it will do.

We got our tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers planted.  More planting to follow.

This is a picture Heather sent me that she had on her phone.  It was from a Christmas Talent Show at church  couple of years ago.  I don't thing I actually had a picture from this.  I just stuck it in here because I just got the picture!

So that's all the news for now!

Our House is Looking Good!

We finally got the house carpeted!  We've been planning on it for several years.  We just didn't want to go through the pain and torture of moving EVERYTHING out of the rooms to get the job done.  We decided to celebrate getting my new car paid off by getting new carpet!  We originally planned to go through Home Depot to buy it and have it installed.  (That turned out to be a total pain in the neck, and it didn't happen.)

While we were waiting for Home Depot to finally set up the appointment to get the carpet installed, I called Keith Foutz and asked him to fix a couple of big cracks in our bedroom before the carpet went down.  He said he would, and in the meantime we planned on painting the Green Room.  After we got everything out of the Green Room, we saw that it needed more work than we could do, so we hired Keith to re-mud, texture and paint for us.  He also put a new frame around the doorway, and put in new baseboards.

While that was going on, we wound up cancelling everything with Home Depot because it was turning into a whole huge project we didn't waant to do.  Keith got us together with a different carpet company, and the whole project was done in a week.

During this time, Brian had meetings in Ruidoso, so long before we even started the project, we planned for Chelsea and the boys to come over while he was gone.  We just never dreamed all this would come down the same week.  We loved having them here, but I bet they were really glad to get back home after all the mess we had around!  I'm ready for them to come back to have the relaxing week we planned on in the first place.  (But I'm also glad they were here for the rest of the adventure!)

I was happy that KFC still had its $2.99 Chicken Fried Steak special on Tuesdays! 

Cooking was pretty much out of the question!

While the workers were laying the carpet, we needed to be away from the house and out of their way.  It was supposed to be all finished in one day.  We could handle one day!  Here we are at the library!

We went to Splash Time at the pool!  (We couldn't take pictures in the pool area, so we snuck a couple in the dressing room!

We spent a lot of time in the Nursery at the church.  I think this was probably David's favorite part!  But we got the news that it was going to take another whole day before the carpet was done, so the next day, we kind of had a repeat.

We met Grandad at McDonald's for lunch again.

This time, we stayed and played in the play area for quite awhile.  (We inspected it first to see if it was clean!)

Along about nap time, we went to a movie... Sherlock Gnomes.  I wouldn't have ever chosen this as one to see in the theater, but it was the perfect place for two little boys (and two grown women) to get in a bit of a nap on our second day away from home!

David slept on the floor in our room.  He slept with Mickey in his arms the whole night!

Look, it's done!

Now that everything is done and put back into place, we love it!  It's beautiful!
