Spring Break 2016

As a teacher, I can honestly say that Spring Break gives us the umph we need to make it through the end of the year!  Hooray for Spring Break!

As usual, it's all about the food.  We knocked off several more cookbooks in our quest (New Year's Resolution) to make a new recipe from at least one of our many cookbooks each week throughout the year.  We made grilled asparagus here.

The dad made New Orleans style crepes!

We made foil dinners in our Sun Oven from the Sun Oven Cookbook.

Amy stopped in for a bit on her way to Farmington to see Brian, Chelsea and David!  We had little blessings in a cup while she was here.

Amy having the most fun ever in Farmington.

Grandma and Grandad are jealous!

Marinating steak for dinner!

Handsom boy is ready for church!

I read a novel that had a restaurant that specialized in Aspic Salad.  That is a cold tomato jello salad that was popular in the 1950s.  I decided to make some.  there is definitely a reason they stopped making it by the 1960s.  The book had the recipe for it in the back.  It was the same recipe I found here.  It kind of makes me gag just looking at the picture again.

This is the marinated steak all ready to be eaten.

Chocolate pudding cake.

Someone showed this on facebook letting the world know what that little compartment is really for.  Now that I know....

Spring Break obviously left me a little more time to cook!

Amy had lots of papers to grade!

On Wednesday morning before Amy went back to Phoenix, we took a spontaneous hike up Pyramid Peak!  It was a great morning!

We went to Mesa for the remainder of Spring Break.

We went to a session at the Mesa Temple.

Again, the world's best Selfie Takers in action!

We went to a Spring Traning Game at Hohokum Stadium.

We watched the Atheletics and the Angels.

Papa doing what Papa does best!

See the tiny baby grapefruit?

The dad and the papa spent hours picking and pruning oranges.

We went to the Mesa Temple Easter Pagent.

On Saturday morning, we went to Carlene's family's annual Easter Breakfast at Papago Park.

We hiked up to the hole in the rock.

A saguaro about to bloom!

We went to the Arizona Quilter's Guild Show at the Mesa Convention Center.

This quilt made the dad very happy!

We all voted for it for Viewer's favorite!

Carlene making a pie.

The dad cleaning up prunings.

This is a quilt I made for the Kealers.  They are letting Amy live with them for the rest of the semester.

Micah likes his Easter book.  Or at least he wants to eat it.

Susan got a new hairstyle for Easter!

Cool family!

Amy being cute!

Papa in his natural element!
