Well, we took the hoop house down yesterday. It extended the growing season about three months at the end of the summer, and next year, we ought to be able to start planting a couple of months earier than usual. Since the first frost, we had two good cuttings of chard, lots of kale, and a row of radishes and a couple of bunches of lettuce. Our carrots continued to grow longer this year, and we had a gorgeous bunch of carrots. They were pretty big. When we dug some up at Thanksgiving time, Brian said they look like the kind of carrots in Rabbit's garden in Winnie-the-Pooh stories. The carrots are even bigger and prettier now.
Kale is still nasty, but it is the most nutrient dense of any vegetable, so I throw it in smooties a couple of times a week. We blanced and froze what we had left, and it looks like we can get about ten more blenders full of smoothie out of it. I think it tastes better than Papa's green drink. Susan doesn't think so.

Do you se the pile of radishes in the bottom, left corner?

These are beauts!

We could have left some of the carrots in the ground to dig up later, but we went ahead and dug up the rest of them while we were at it.

Are those not the most gorgeous home-grown carrots ever?
