Plans change!

So, the plan for yesterday was to get up, go to the temple, see Brian and Chelsea and Dad if they were available, and then come home.  Good plan for a Saturday if I do say so myself.  However, plans have a way of changing.

The refrigerator in the kitchen chose yesterday to breathe it's final breath.  It's been making a funny clicking sound off and on for about a month.  I called an appliance repair guy, and he said to start looking for a new refrigerator.  Well, we didn't.  We should have.  Yesterday we went all over town looking for the perfect refrigerator.  The only spot we have where we could fit a refrigerator is only 30" wide.  Our requirements were, it had to fit, and it had to have an icemaker.  If possible we didn't want the drawer-type freezer again.  Once stuff goes down in the bottom of that thing, you never see it again.

We found just what we were looking for.  The freezer is on the bottom, but it opens like a door, not a drawer, and we can see the stuff that's in there.  Hooray!  We got it at a little appliance store on Coal.

We put pictures all over the last refrigerator because it was big, shiny, modern, and it really didn't fit well in our kitchen.  We put pictures all over this one, because we decided we like having pictures all over our refrigerator.

The picture gallery!

The front of the refrigerator.  It's a Whirlpool!
Moral of the story...sort of.  Never buy GE appliances.  After we bought our GE refrigerator, several people told us about the bad luck they had with GE appliances.  Well, we would like to throw our two cents worth in.  Buy a Maytag; buy a Whirlpool; buy a Frididaire; buy anything, but stay away from GE!  (We only had the thing about five years.  It died just as soon as the extended warantee ended.)  That seens to be the story we've heard from many a folk.  Just passing that information on to you.

  2. Well, that's unfortunate! A few Thanksgivings ago my parents' oven died (the day before Thanksgiving while doing the self-clean), so they had to buy a new one that day to feed all the relatives! We'll definitely keep your warning in mind for the future when we buy appliances. That's nice to have a freezer door again though - I always wondered how you kept track of stuff in there.
