National Day Celebrations in April!

Well, we did it!  We made it a whole month more remembering to celebrate every day!  Which is good, because, clearly, every day has something worth celebrating!

April 1 is National Sourdough Bread Day.
April 2 is National Equal Pay Day, and...

... National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day!

April 3 is National Walking Day and National Film Score Day, so we listened to film scores while we were walking!

April 4 is National School Librarian Day.  This is Mrs. Menapace, our school librarian.

April 5 is National Read a Road Map Day.  As she was on her way home for General Conference Weekend, Susan called and said she was in Seligman.  We had to look it up on a road map, because we didn't know where that was.

It's also National Deep Dish Pizza Day!

This is Amy's and Cody's Deep Dish Pizza Celebration dinner!

April 6 is National Caramel Corn Day!  Peter's helping the grandad pop popcorn for the caramel corn.

Chelsea is making her grandma's microwave caramel corn recipe.

Susan is making toffee popcorn!

It was a delicious day to celebrate!

It's also National Love our Children Day!

April 7 is National No Housework Day.  We celebrated by watching General Conference!

April 8 is National Empanada Day!

We had never made empanadas before.  They were tasty!

April 9 is National Cherish an Antique Day.  This was my dad's grandparents' coffee grinder.

This is the Globe Cabinet that Papa bought from the first bank he worked in.  The furniture was really old, so they updated.  I love this.  It's my favorite piece of furniture.

This is Doug's grandparents' iron.

This is my grandma's sifter and tin full of old cookie cutters!

April 10 is National Siblings Day.  My family...

...and the dad's family.

It was also National Farm Animals Day!

April 11 is National Pet Day.  This is our neighbor's dog.  I wish it was my dog.

But this one really is my pet.

It was also National Teen Literature Appreciation Day.  The dad is sleeping to Harry Potter.  He's really appreciating it!

We went to Farmington on April 12.  Brian and Chelsea made grilled cheese sandwiches to help us celebrate National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day!

Tasty and delicious!

April 13 - It's National Make Lunch Count Day.  David is counting the pieces of pizza!

April 14 is National Gardening Day!

Steve and Micah are celebrating, too!

It's also National Pecan Day.  We put pecans in our Chef Salad...

...and we also made a peach pie with a pecan crust.  Then put pecans on top.

April 15 is National Rubber Eraser Day.  I celebrated by...

...giving each of my kids a rubber eraser.  (They were from the classroom supplies, anyway.)

On April 16 (Tax Day) we celebrated National Bean Counter Day by counting beans.

April 17 is Bat Appreciation Day!

On April 18 we took off to American Fork.  We celebrated National Animal Cracker Day!

Micah is helping the grandad celebrate National Hanging Out Day on April 19!

April 20 is National Pineapple Upside-down Cake Day!

It was delicious!  We ate the entire cake in one sitting!

It's also National Look Alike Day.  David and Peter are in their "look-alike" outfits!

April 21 is National Yellow Bat Day!  Susan bought us this yellow-gold bat from the Las Vegas Aviators!

It's also Easter!  Here's Brian's and Chelsea's family Easter Picture!

April 22 is National Jelly Bean Day.  We brought jelly beans to eat with popcorn on our way back to Gallup...

...and when we stopped at Walker Drug in Moab,...

...we found this Jelly Belly display just waiting to help us celebrate!

It was also Earth Day.  We bought this Forget-Me-Not at a nursery in American Fork...

...and we planted it for Earth Day!

April 23 is National Take a Chance Day.  We celebrated by playing Yahtzee.  The dad had to "take a Chance" on his very first roll.  Sad day.  I got a Yahtzee on my first roll.  Happy Day.

April 24 is National Pigs in a Blanket Day--definitely a day worth celebrating!

April 25 is National DNA Day.  This is my DNA profile...

...and this is the dad's.

April 26 is National Help a Horse Day!

April 27 is National Devil Dog Day.   We looked up Devil Dogs.  They are a little like chocolate Twinkies in the shape of a bone.  They don't sell them in this part of the country.  But we did find a recipe for Devil Dog Cake online.

It was pretty good!

April 28 is National Blueberry Pie day...

...and National Great Poetry Reading Day!

April 29 is National Shrimp Scampi Day!

April 30 is National Oatmeal Cookie Day AND National Raisin Day, so of course, I made Oatmeal Raisin Cookies to eat with the homemade ice cream when Perry Merrill and his new wife, Linda, came over for dinner.  (Right after they left, the missionaries dropped by.  They finished off the cookies and the ice cream, but I forgot to take a picture for the blog!

And thus ends another month of celebrating!  Thanks, family, for helping us in keeping up with our New Year's Resolution!
