For Memorial Day Weekend, we went to American Fork to wish Angela a Happy Birthday, and to spend time with the Utah branch of the family tree! We had a great weekend, and we miss them already!
| I'm not sure what it is... |
| ...but his little grandboys sure love their grandad! |
| We got to Steve's and Angela's house on the evening of Angela's birthday! Hooray for birthdays! |
| We didn't even set of the smoke detector! |
| Steve made a delicious mint-chocolate chip cake for Angela (and the rest of us)! It was delicious! |
| Clearly it's the job of the Grandma to fill her grandboys full of things like delicious chocolate cake! |
| I did my job well! |
| We went for a walk on Saturday morning, and found this perfect picture spot along the way! |
| American Fork has a lovely river-walk trail that is only a hop, skip and a jump away from Steve's and Angela's house. |
| Of course we took advantage of that! |
| At the park |
| Micah was so cute! He loved climbing up into his playhouse to play "Peek-a-boo" through the doors and windows! |
| We went on a picnic at the lake! |
| And then we went geocaching from there. We found a cache by these gigantic stumps! We can't figure out how stumps this size got here! |

| The stump cache. |

| Walking back from the geocache spot. |
| Another geocacache by the lake! |
| Micah looking out his playhouse window! |
| Susan went to Jeffrey Young's wedding in Orem while we were up there. Here she is with Curtis Leyba and Jeffrey. |
| While she was at the wedding, we picked up one more cache. |
| We went to Costco. The dad bought Steve a hat just like his! Micah tried one on, too! |
| Steve made us some Pina Colada smoothies with fresh pineapple. The picture doesn't exactly show it spraying all over the kitchen! |
| A perfect biscuit! |
| We went on a Sunday stroll to the temple, and we found a cache there. It was in a fake bolt. |
| Total deliciousness! |
| The dad and I got up early Memorial Day morning and went on a walk. |
| This is what we saw! |
| In their ward, the Scouts put flags up in everybody's yard on most Fedreal holidays. They stick the flag in a whole marked by a star on the sidewalk. They didn't see Steve's star, so they hammered a piece of rebar in the ground instead. Their star had faded, so Steve went out and painted a new one! |
| Micah's favorite game! |
| True love. |
| Me and my baby girl! |
| Swinging at the park |
| Swinging with the grandboy! |
| Look at that face! |
| Reading to my grandson! In Grandma heaven! |
| Relaxing in the hammock in the backyard! |
| On Sunday at church, we met a Smith cousin--Jesse Nathanael Benson, When he heard I grew up in Albuquerque, he asked me if I knew the Acton family. I did! Beverlly Acton O'Dell was my YW leader when I was a Laurel. I loved, loved, loved her! She and her ex-husband, Bruce O'Dell were amazing leaders, and they helped the youth in our ward more than they will EV ER know! |
| Brother Benson told me that Bev was a friend of his, and he told me where her house was. It was only a few blocks away as the crow flies. In fact, it was right by the iris bed where we took Micah's pictures! Susan, Angela and I went over to see Bev. We spent some time visiting and catching up! It was great to see her again! |
| Pancakes! |
| This is a cool one we found on the way home. It was behind a combination lock, and we had to figure out the combination. The cache itself was a bullet shell shoved in the post behind a latch latched by the lock. |
| We stopped and did a bit of geocaching on our way back to Gallup on Memorial Day! |
| As we got closer to Shiprock, we called Brian and Chelsea to see if they could meet us for dinner at the Subway in Shiprock. When David got out of his carseat, he ran to the Grandad with his arms up. It was adoreable! More true love! |
