Provo City Center Temple Open House Trip!

We were able to go to Provo for the City Center Temple Open House this past weekend!  We've loved the Provo Tabernacle for years and years, and like so many others, we were heart-broken when the Tabernacle burned.  And like so many others, we were overjoyed when the Prophet announced that the building would be retored and  turned into a second temple for Provo.

The dad has been watching the progress online just about daily since the project began.  Every time we've gone to Provo, a trip to the temple site has been a must.

Finally, the day arrived.  We were able to go to the Open House this weekend.  In fact, we went three different times!

Our tickets were for Monday morning at 8:00 am.  On Saturday afternoon, we heard that the stand-by line wait time was less than 20 minutes, so we decided to head over and see if we could get in then.  We did!  And the wait time was less than 5 minutes!  The temple is gorgeous!  What a beautiful job they did!

The whole trip was cold, wet and snowy!

 Then we wound up going back two more times.  We went ahead and used our tickets on Monday morning at 8:00.  The dad and I had originally planned to head for home right after that, and Amy planned to fly back to Phoenix on Monday as well.  As it happened, Utah got dumped on  by a huge snowstorm.  The dad and I stayed an extra day, and Amy's flight was cancelled, so she stayed an extra day, too.  The snow was gorgeous, and we are thankful we did stay, because the roads were much better when we did go home on Tuesday.

Later in the day on Monday, we called Auntie Mary and asked her if she would like to go to the Open House with us.  We had asked her for the earlier tour, but she already had plans.  But she was able to go with us later in the day.  That made three trips through for the rest of us.  Well, most of us.  Steve had to go to work after the 8:00 tour.

So that was the Open House part of the trip.  Here are some pictures of other things we did that weekend!

Angela took some tasty, delicious soup out of the freezer and stuck it in the crock pot for dinner.  The only problem was that it was frozen solid, and it wouldn't fit in the crock pot with the lid on that way!  The dad helped solve that little problem.

We went over to the Provo City Library and saw a display of illustrations someone made for a book about the Temple.

We took a nice little walk up to campus in the cold, wet snow.  The grandad took good care of Micah.

Ducks in the duck pond didn't seem to mind the snow or ice.

I hope they call me on a mission, when I have grown a foot or two, or four.

On Saturday morning, Amy, the dad and I did a session at the Provo Temple.

This was my favorite part of the trip!  I got to spend time with my grandbaby!  Oh, and the rest of the family, too.

We watched the Saturday session of Stake Conference online, and put together a cupcake puzzle!
