Halloween Week, I Guess.

This isn't really a Halloween post, but it's stuff we did or that happened during that week.  It's a mish-mosh of stuff, mostly.  But that's what life is these days, mostly.

We had Len Allen over for dinner and made the Mushroom Rice from the "...Rice," book we just got at Deseret Books in Mesa.  Brother Allen is a composer and arranger for lots of choir music.  He has arranged several numbers for Jackman Music and other companies.  We have sung many of his arrangements in our choir in the past.  His name is David Len Allen on the music, but he goes by Len.

Getting ready for a freeze.  It's time to put the garden to bed for the year.

We had a good potato crop this year.  We found that the red potatoes, and the Yukon Golds did really well.  The russets were a bust.

We had lots of potatoes, and hundreds of centipedes.

The dad came to school to read and carve a jack-o-lantern with my crew.

We got a small little pumpkin for our annual dinner-in-a-pumpkin.  It was just the two of us.

It was tasty, and we wound up with leftovers for a whole week.

Every year around Halloween, Butler's has a Teacher's Bash.  They invite teachers in the area for sales, prizes, food and freebies.  They also have lots of door prizes.  The dad won this "major award" door prize.  We are hoping one of our children may have a burning desire for a "major award."  It's a really nice chair.  We just don't have a place for this really nice chair.

We had our first early-release day due to snow this week.  

I'm not sure how it happened, but the backyard got several inches more snow than the front yard.  Maybe it was blowing snow.  Who knows.

We love watching post-season baseball.  During the first game of the World Series, Taco Bell offered a free Crunch Wrap on Nov. 4 to everyone in America if someone stole a base.  One of the Royals players did just that.  On the snow day, we went to Taco Bell for our Free Crunch Wraps.  Go Royals!
