It's that Chile Roasting Time of the Year!

It's Labor Day Weekend!  That's the weekend that we usually try to get our chile ready for the year.  Hooray for chile!

Dad picked up a bag of hot this year.  Last year we got medium, and there was almost no zing to it.  I think that the hot will be just right.  You never can tell with chile.  Some years the mild is killer hot, and some years the extra hot doesn't have much zing to it.

We've started doing our own roasting.  That way we don't have to wait in line for hours to get the chiles roasted.

It took about 40 minutes to roast the whole sack.

Brian and Chelsea got here just in time to help peel.

Chelsea and Susan are laughing now, but when we were finished, their hands were burning.

I bought "The Many Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh," and we watched while we were peeling.  It's still as adorable as it used to be when my babies were little.

On Sunday afternoon, we made Chile Rellenos for dinner.  We made a bunch of them so we could make Chile Relleno Burritos for the freezer.

Afterwards, we all walked down Susan's and Amy's trails to Blakes for a "limited time only" Peach Shake.  the shakes were delicious.  Happy Labor Day.
