The month of May totally flew by this year. As I write, it's June 4, and I still have two more days of school. Talk about a short summer!
The biggest news inn May is that Doug left his job at McKinley County as County Attorney after 27+ years. He took an appointment to the bench as District Court Judge in the Eleventh Judicial District, Division 7. (I hope I wrote that right.) That, along with being a Sealer in the Albuquerque Temple has changed our regular routine around here quite a bit. We will survive, and hopefully eventually we will thrive.
This is my friend, Linda Merrill. She married Perry Merrill. They were both widowed. We started having Perry over for dinner a couple of times a month after his wife, Beth, passed away. He remarried a year or two later, and now we have them and they have us over to dinner frequently. Linda and I have matching shirts. We both bought them at our favorite fashion emporium, Costco!
Last year I listened to an audiobook about some folks that bought a vinyard, and it described how they pruned their vinyard each year. It was very detailed. (We usually just whack off some vines and leave others.) We watched a couple of youtube videos and pruned them quite a bit last year. This year we watched more detailed videos about pruning to boost your grape harvest, and we followed the directions exactly. We can already see that we will have a much more bounteous harvest of bigger grapes. Life changer for us (sort of.)

We went to Farmington for a visit. We took the grandkids out on a date while Brian and Chelsea had some friends over for an Adventure Challenge Date with another couple.
As all great outings with grandkids start, we went to McDonalds for dinner!
The kids wanted to go play in lots of different parks, so we started out at the park by the Boys and Girls Club. There was another family there with some kids, and we all started playing tag and Hide and Seek together, so we wound up playing at that park the whole time.
I bought the little turtle plant holder at a craft show. Brian bought me the little plant and pot at a really cool nursery just a couple of blocks from their house for Mother's Day!
On Friday before I got to Farmington, the Grandad helped Brian till up his garden area.
On Saturday, we walked over to the nursery. Brian and Chelsea chose plants, and we came back and helped them plant their garden.

The dad had an idea of how to convert his smoker to an electric smoker. It didn't work.

Every year when I go to put up the new Morning Meeting Board, I struggle getting everything to fit. I just took this one so I could just stick it back the same way.
We went to an Isotopes game and bought Jumbo dogs for dinner.
This doesn't even really show just how jumbo these dogs were!
As we were walking up, some people gave us a couple of their extra tickets free!

When the dad was helping Brian ready his garden for planting, he got to use Brian's electric tiller. He really liked it. So after struggling a couple of hours trying to get his old gas-powered tiller to start, we put it out on the curb (and someone did take it) and ordered one like Brian's. He loves it!
This was actually in June. The Gallup Trails sponsored a Biking/Hiking event for National Trails Day on June 3. We hiked the 5K trail. Bikers had a 6 mile trail.
When we came home, I found this on the counter. At first I thought it was mouse droppings. At close look I could see it was not. As I was wiping up the mess, I could see MAGGOTS hatching out of these. These are fly pupa. AHHHHHH! Disgusting! I guess it's better than mouse poo, but still....
This is a picture of a little girl in my class that her mom sent me. It was taken at Red Rock's Ground Breaking for the new school. Since this picture was taken on Tuesday, the whole construction area has been fenced in. It looks like it's actually going to happen this time!
