A Couple of Things in July

The dad and I spent Independence Day this year with Covid.  That surely wasn't our plan, but that's how it turned out.

We made American Flag Waffles for breakfast!

We did some backyard fishing.  (The subsequent rains sure helped our grass look better!)

We played Yard Yahtzee

We had steak and watermelon for dinner!

The grandad fixed a new style of chicken feeder.  We can fill it and the chickens stay fed for a week.  That really helps when we go out of town.

We had a huge artichoke harvet this year.  We are cutting out the artichoke hearts.

Making dough for pita bread.

Dad cooked the pitas in his outdoor oven!

This is the filling for the pitas from 101 Thngs to do With Ground Beef.

Delicious!

More June Shenanigans!

We had a pretty busy June this year.  We were pretty much on the go or with kids and grandkids the whole of June.  It all came to a screeching halt at the the end of the month, though.  Covid caused summer antics to come to a screeching halt for a bit.

Here is a bit more of June for us.

The dad made Hummus using Peanut Butter instead of Olive Oil.  It's a great texture.  A bit of an odd taste, but not bad.

We had Kimberly and Greg Hayes over for dinner.  We had a Pickle and Onion Bratwurst Sandwich from 101 things to do with a Pickle!  It was really good!  It's definitely one to make again!

The wind stopped blowing and the sun came out.  We were finally able to cook in our Sun Oven!

We made Stuffed Manicotti from 101 thing to do with a Dutch Oven!

We went to Albuquerque for our Temple Shift.  We ate at Papadeaux's for dinner the night before.

The food was delicious!  The atmosphere was great!  Service was wonderful.  We only eat out at places like that once in a blue moon, so we savored every minute!

The wood edging that Doug and the boys put in the little island by the street had been in pretty bad shape for several years.  It was time to replace it.

I think we did a pretty good job.  (I use the word "we" loosely.  I just helped the dad. )

We made Tofu Creme Brulee with the 101 things to do with Tofu book.

Dad got a new wheelbarrow for Father's Day.  It was long overdue!

Joe and Juday Whitaker were in town on Father's Day, so we had them over for dinner.  They had the Tofu Brulee with us.  (It's not something we'll be making again any time soon.)

This is a dumpy little hamburger dive in Thoreau that we've been hearing about.  It's been here for years, so we decided to give it a shot.  Those pricey little burgers were absolutely delicious!  Well worth the stop!

Visiting with Carola and Mark

We made seasoned fries in our 101 things to do with a Potato book.  They were really good!

Doug's Covid Test - June 28

My Covid test - June 29.

We both felt pretty crummy for a good couple of days--maybe three, and then we tired out easily for a good few more days, but we survied, and now we can say we're part of the not-so-elite club!
