I realized that I had two personal days left this school year that I hadn't taken yet. If I didn't use them, they would roll over to sick-leave days, which are harder to use, so of course, I decided to take those days off. We decided that it would be a wonderful time to go to see Amy and her family in Phoenix before it got too hot for the summer!
Here is our adventure! (Some of our adventure will show up when we post our National Days Celebrations for May.)
| We left Thursday morning on our adventure. On the way, we stopped in Flagstaff and went hiking on Mt. Eldon on the Sandy Seep trail. We did a bit of geocaching on the way! |
| Amy had to go get tires put on her car the afternoon we got there. We got to stay with Eli. We took a nap. |
| Amy and Eli doing "Come Follow Me" on Friday morning. |
| We went out to Sun City West to see Jo and Al. Jo had had a stroke earlier in the week... |
| ...but she was home again, and she looked really good. |
| They sure think Eli is cute. They are smart people! |
| Grandad needed a nap. |
| Eli needed a grandad. |
| We went over to the park that is right by Amy's and Cody's house. |
| Eli pushed his walkie toy clear across the baseball field. It was a pretty long way! |
| We went to WinCo. I love that place! |
| Eli helped Grandad push the cart. |
| We went by the library to get free passes to the Deer Valley Petroglyph Preserve. |
| We went out for dinner at Red Robin. Eli liked dipping his fry in ketchup, and then he liked the ketchup off and dipped it again. No accounting for taste. |
| Eli's learning to drink from a straw. |
| On Saturday morning, the Grandad and I watched Eli so Amy and Cody could go to the temple and on a date. The Phoenix Temple was closed for cleaning, and the Mesa Temple is closed for the next couple of years for remodeling, so they drove over to the Gilbert Temple. Eli likes us better when his parents aren't there. Amy or Cody took this piccture of us from their car as they were heading off to Gilbert. We were walking over to their church building to do their cleaning assignment for them. |
| There wasn't much cleaning to do. A few folks went early and the night before, so there we weren't there more than a half-hour or so. We did some geocaching on the walk back home. |
| Later on, we went to the Deer Valley Petroglyph Preserve. Eli didn't want to wear his hat. |
| Finally, we just put sunscreen all over his head, hair and all. |
| We went home for nap time! |
| Amy and Cody had a good time on their adventure, and we had a good time on ours! |
| Amy and I made bath bombs. They are way cool! It was fun! |
| We went to church on Sunday morning, then we took off for home. We stopped in Camp Verde on they way home for one last cache! |
