A Weekend Trip to Farmington!

The evening we got to Farmington, Brian got a text from a friend saying that the Temple was lit up.  The dad was already showered and ready for bed, but we got dressed and took off to see the Temple lit up.  It was really pretty.

We played a fun game, but I don't remember what it's called.  Something to do with chickens.  It was a lot of fun, and easy to comprehend.  Emily even played on her own.  ( She was sure cute!)

Chelsea and I had a date to go to Vitalant to give blood together.  She had low iron, so she couldn't donate.  She was a Blood Dud!

 After giving blood, the Vitalant people told us to take as many goodies as we wanted, so we did.  They didn't know who they were talking to!  We all enjoyed the blood goodies!

Chelsea lost the chicken game.  Not only was she a blood dud, but she was a chicken dud.  It was not her day.

Brian made delicious burgers for lunch.  I forgot to take pictures, but Chelsea to the rescue!

We all went over to the church building and set up chairs in the cultural hall for their Stake Conference.  You should have seen those kids hustling to set chairs!  David and Emily set up as many chairs as the adults.  And Peter set out the hymn books!

 

Our Adventure in Santa Fe

The dad was chose to be a recognized citizen of McKinley County on McKinley County Day, which was January 24, 2024.  We left for Santa Fe on Tuesday after school so we would be there first thing Wednesday morning.

This is the certificate that Doug got.   I'm still not sure exactly what he was recognized for.  Anthony Dimas did the write up about Doug that Senator Munoz read.  It was a lovely recognition.  I am thankful to have such a man in my life, and for eternity.  He is a truly good man.

The photographer took our picture before the session began.  Another gentleman was recognized as well.  I forgot his name, but he is the Chaplin for the first responders in McKinley County.

Mildred Lincoln gave us a whole list of  "can't miss" places to eat in Santa Fe, so we hit the ones we could.  This place is called "The Shed."  It has delicious New Mexican food.

They serve garlic bread with the meal instead of tortillas or sopapillas.

We got a Chocolate Pot with berries at Rio Chama.

We had all day on Thursday to sight-see.  We went to Meow Wolf in Santa Fe.

We spent Friday and Saturday in Albuquerque at the Temple.  It was a nice little mini-vacation.

January 2024 - It's All About the Food!

It's a new year, and time for a new resolution.  As always, we try to choose something that will not ultimately make us better or help us improve ourselves.  Those we seem to break by Jan. 2.  We've done this resolution before several years ago.  We have a lot of cookbooks.  This year we will make at least one new recipe a week--one per cookbook--all year long.  When we've made a recipe from the last cookbook, we will start over from the first cookbook.

Snow Day!  Then courts here have the same Snow Day schedule as the schools.  So when I have the day off, he has it off with me.  A perk of his new job!

I got a nail in my tire.  The dad changed to the spare and took the tire in to have it fixed!

Tomato Soup.  Everything we have ever made from this cookbook has been subpar at best.  We got it at Goodwill, and we have now sent it back to Goodwill.

 Most of January was snow and food.  It was a good month.
