The Decker Bunch

The Covid-19 Virus is alive and well all over the world, and is alive and well in McKinley County, NM. The Navajo Nation is one of the hot spots (per capita) in the United States, and much of McKinley County is on the Navajo Reservation, and the businesses here are patronized heavily by the Navajo Nation. As I'm writing this, (May 5) Gallup, NM is on lockdown. In order to enter Gallup, you have to have essential worker papers, or a written list for shopping, and only one person is allowed into the city per car. Scary times, for sure!

As soon as it was clear all schools would be closed for long periods of time, we asked Susan to come here to spend the physical distancing time. News outlets refer to it as "social distancing," which I don't agree with. We can still be social via technology. Our governor calls it "physical distancing," which is what it actually is.

Here is what we have been up to:

Susan had a Zoom meeting with the staff at her school. The radio hosts from the radio show Susan listens to in her morning commute popped into the meeting. Susan loves Mercedes and JC. Can you see how excited she is! It totally made her day!

Skillet breakfast on General Conference Morning! This is the first General Conference in YEARS that we didn't spend with Brian, Chelsea and crew. Boy, did we miss them!

We went hiking in the Zuni Mountains. On the way, we found a new geocache!

For Easter, we used the Instant Pot to hard boil the eggs. We will absolutely do that again!

On Easter, it was cold enough that we even built a fire!

A semi-truck got in a wreck on the freeway, and they were giving away the contents of the truck to whoever wanted it. The dad got two forty pound boxes of chicken breasts.
