Mr. Decker Goes to Washington!

The dad made his annual trip to Washington, D.C.  Here are some of his adventures this year.  The temple there is closed for a couple of years for remodeling, so he wasn't able to have that adventue this year, but he did do a couple of things he hadn't done before.  Some of them you will see here, and some will show up in our National Days of March Blog Post.

The dad went to the National Portrait Gallery...

...and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

This is the original of this portrait of Joseph Smith.

These are canals that run along the D.C. side of the Patomac.  They were used like the Erie Canal many, many years ago.  Barges were pulled through the canals by mules to bring cargo and supplies to Washington, D.C.

This is the first time the dad had seen these.  He didn't even know they were there until he went down the narrow stairway from th bridge.

This is the narrow stairway that went down to the canals.

This is a popular stairway that has been in several movies.  It's in the Georgetown area of D.C.  The locals call it the Exorcist stairway because it's in that movie.

Pictures of Grandkids From Texts and Email This Month!

These are pictures of our wonder grandbabies that their parents sent to us this month.  Let me tell you, as a grandma, each little picture is a big joy for me!

Plans Change!

Plans were all set and we were planning to go to Phoneix to see Amy, Cody and Eli, and then Papa and Carlene for the Presidents Day Weekend, and the snow forecast planned something else for us.  So last minute, we called Brian and Chelsea to see if we could head over and spend Friday night and Saturday with them.  They said we could, so we did.  Chelsea's singing group was having their "Broadway for Brunch,"  (I think that's what it's called.)  So we didn't see her as much this weekend.  We did get to spend time with the boys, though!  And that is always good.

Grandad is the man!

Brian went to Chelsea's concert, so we hung out with the grandboys!

It had snowed during the night, but we decided to take a snowy walk anyway.  We walked to Walgreens, and while we were there, we bought Owlett for David and Something Luna for David.  They are PJ Masks Characters.  David is currently loving PJ Masks.  (They are mini-super heroes.)

They are playing with Owlette and Something Luna.

Or maybe it's Luna Something.

We had a nice weekend.  We headed back early so it would still be light when we got home, because the snowstorm was on its way!
